Jan Castner was educated in Environmental Engineering at Pennsylvania State University (1978). Jan worked with two international engineering firms for six years. In 1984, Jan made a life changing decision to rely on his own skills and technical expertise to provide a living and not rely on a corporate environment. As such, Jan joined RSR, REALTORS? as a licensed agent in 1983. The 1980?s provide the fertile ground for evolving into a TOP 3 agent in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. In 1990, Jan was offered a partnership in RSR Realtors and became a licensed Broker / Owner of the company doing both residential and commercial brokerage services.
During those years, when there was no internet, no email and for quite a while no multi-list. Realtors in those days had to rely on phone and one on one relationships to satisfy clients? needs. He learned that effective communications and marketing is what creates a steady, quality list of satisfied clients.
Jan coaches other Realtors from around the country on how to market homes and work with clients. He started as a coaching member with the Craig Proctor System and within 2 years reached the ?Platinum? success level for a small residential team. Jan now has two offices, one in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland operating offering homes for permanent and vacation homes.
Jan is also a seasoned Commercial Realtor as well having worked national and regional commercial clients such as Walmart, Tyco, Dollar General, Burger King, Geisinger Health, Phoenix Rehabilitation, UPMC and a myriad of other local clients have benefitted from Jan?s enormous expertise.
Jan is also a 6th Degree Blackbelt in many forms of martial arts and was ranked 5th in Men?s Fighting and 6th in Men?s Open Hand Forms competition in the United States in 2001 (NASKA). Jan teaches self-defense not only in the class environment but also in community services such as Women?s Self Defense, Children?s Self Defense and is the only qualified Pennsylvania continuing education instructor in Self Defense for Realtors. Truly the discipline earned over decades of martial arts has given Jan a true sense of working through challenges both private and for his clients and coaching members.
